NEW MEXICO SHERIFFS’ AND POLICE ASSOCIATION

APPLICATION

Active membership is open to all full-time salaried peace officers and law enforcement personnel at the City, County, State, and Federal levels, to anyone who has retired from these positions, and to members of approved reserve groups with an approved training program.  Persons with like positions in adjoining states also have the right to join the Association.  We also have Associate Membership made of up supporters of our organization.  Membership dues are $30.00 per year.  Membership fees are renewable every 12 months from date of membership.

The object and purpose of this Association is to bring together and acquaint all members thereof for their mutual benefit, for the interchange of thought and information, for the apprehension of criminals, and for such other purposes as the majority of the membership shall from time to time designate.

An additional object of this Association is to establish and maintain a fund for the payment of death benefits to those persons who become active members of the Association.  Members would have to pay into the Association for many years before their dues would equal the death benefit.  However, you must join before age 55 to be eligible for death benefits.

The New Mexico Lawman, official publication of the New Mexico Sheriffs’ and Police Association, is published quarterly.  It is a means of distributing information.  The articles in the magazine are innovative and educational.

“Dedicated to Professional Law Enforcement”

Many are written by active members and reflect the different aspects of law enforcement and can be helpful in particular to the individual officer and small department.

All members and spouses and/or guests are invited and urged to attend this annual conference.  This conference is held in the spring of the year.

The conference consists of business meetings, firearms competitions, noted speakers, seminars, and to a large extent, getting acquainted and having a good time at the banquets and dances.  Please note that wives and husbands are especially invited and welcome to attend with their member spouse.

The New Mexico Sheriffs’ and Police Association maintains several standing committees, such as the Legislative Committee whose goal is to improve the position of the professional officer.

Please use the attached application to join the New Mexico Sheriffs’ and Police Association and give us the benefit of your views and ideas.  The greater our number, the more that can be done for the individual member.

Death Benefit:  (death benefit applies only if applicant is under 55 years of age at date of application.)  $750.00 death benefit for all active law enforcement members.
